Royal Visitors Meet Rural Startups

We were honoured to be asked to get together six startup companies from County Tyrone to meet with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall at a private reception in the village of Gortin.

Diane Roberts greeted the royal couple and introduced them the companies who showcased their products and shared their own unique stories.  Both Charles and Camilla took a particular interest in Mother Bee and kindly accepted a sample of her products to take back to Clarence House.

“Just beautiful,” Camilla declared after smelling a sample of Mother Bee’s balm for sore hands, Hand Yard Rescue.

Cheryl McWilliams founder of the company took her unique wax based product range to market in 2015 and can now boast a number of top race horsing stables in her client base.

They were also keen to chat with Clare Medland about her entrepreneurial journey and her unique accessory product for horse riders, the Rolltack.

The prince rounded the tour with a taste of a new gin from Ion Distillery, freshly prepared and handed to him by CEO Darren Nugent.

The other businesses to meet the Royal couple were homeware company Harch Wood Couture and musical equipment manufacturers Titan Audio

We would like to express our thanks for the invitation to help organise this event, to each of the companies who attended and to our hosts at Gortin Community Activity Centre.
